Q: How do I access the web front-end of the Exchange email system?
A: By using the https://mobile.unisa.ac.za/ URL. You should preferrably book mark this link in your browser. If you are trying to access this web front-end from within the Unisa networks, you MUST have your browser proxy settings set to proxy.unisa.ac.za port 3128.
Q: How do I remove these SPAM emails that arrive in my in box?
A: The policy within Unisa is to not delete any emails that may or may not be SPAM. However, we do mark such emails and leave the final decision up to the end user (yourself). If you notice, the subject line of the email probably starts with the word “SUSPECT:”. When you see this, you can almost be sure the email has content that might not be what you would consider necessary.
A simple procedure is available for you to “sort” such emails without any manual intervention. In the Outlook email client, right click on the email and select the “Create Rule” option on the menu. You will then get a little window that looks similar to this…. You would firstly select the “Subject contains” check box. Then you must remove all the other text after the “SUSPECT:” word. This will make the rule apply to all emails that arrive with SUSPECT: in the subject line. Then, enable the “Move item to folder” check box and select the “Junk Email” Folder using the “Select Folder button”. Select OK and all emails received after this, which have SUSPECT in the subject line will be moved to the Junk E-mail folder. Whenever you have time, or your email box is out of space, you can then just right click on the Junk Email folder and clean it out. Or browse the folder’s contents to ensure no "good" emails have been moved there. |
